Shopping A straight shot from the Bed & Breakfast, historic downtown Casper is a great place to start any shopping excursion. With a wide variety of excellent shops and restaurants and Wyoming's largest Western store, Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters, it's sure to please. The Eastridge Mall offers a broad range of national and local retailers including the Bon Marche, Sears, and J.C. Penney's. Don't miss the nearby Sunrise Shopping Center for even more quality stores.
Skiing Both Nordic and Alpine skiing are available on Casper Mountain. The Casper Nordic Ski Area boasts 42 kilometers of groomed trails for both classical and skate skiing. Enjoy a night ski any night of the week on the lighted loop trail. Hogadon ski area features runs for downhill skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, from beginner to expert and a terrain park for those inclined to test the laws of gravity at high speeds.
Museums The Nicolaysen Art Museum displays works from regional, national, and international artists. Admission is free. The Tate Geological Musuem, on the campus of Casper College, showcases Wyoming's geological treasures. It contains over 3000 mineral and fossil specimens. At the Werner Wildlife Museum you can see many of Wyoming's indigenous creatures as well as animals from four continents. The new National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is the perfect place to explore the story of the famous pioneer trails; the Oregon Trail, Mormon, Bridger, Bozeman, and Pony Express Trails all passed nearby. Still hungry for history? Check out the Fort Caspar Musuem and Historical Site for a close-up look at life in the mid-1800's, or take a drive out to the massive Independence Rock, upon which hundreds of pioneers inscribed their names during their passage across this rugged landscape.
Wildlife The area around Casper supports an abundant wildlife population. Mule deer, pronghorn, elk, fox, badgers, black bear, and mountain lions call this part of Wyoming home. So does a myriad of avian life, making for excellent birding.
Fishing and Hunting The Casper Mountain Bed & Breakfast makes a great launching point for your fishing and hunting excursions. Local hunting features mule deer, pronghorn, and elk. If fishing is your game (or fish your game), don't miss the blue ribbon trout fishing on the famous Miracle Mile. There are dozens of other prime fishing spots, including the Pathfinder and Alcova reservoirs (these also feature boating, marinas, hiking trails, and beaches). Golf Hit the links at the Municipal Golf Course or the Casper Country Club, both within minutes of the Bed & Breakfast. The Three Crowns Golf Course, designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr opened in 2005.
Wyoming Symphony Orchestra Even in the wilds of the west, fine music is closer then you think. Casper is the home of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, which had been leaving audiences on their feet and applauding for over 50 years.
Pro Sports Teams Casper hosts two professional sports teams. Cheer on the Casper Ghosts in the Mike Lansing Stadium or watch the NIFL Wyoming Cavalry battle rivals at the Casper Events Center.
Theatres Comedy, tragedy. Take your pick and take in a show at Casper College's Gertrude Krampart Theatre or the Stage III community theatre. Both showcase the city's creative and dramatic talent, which is considerable.
Movie Theatres The downtown Movie Palaces are movie-going at its finest. Enjoy digital sound, comfortable stadium seating, and big screens for a premium film-watching experience.
Old Town Amusements Old Town affords a taste of history and treats with its old west theme and ice cream parlor. A superb miniature golf course, a rock climbing wall, and an arcade are sure to entertain all members of the clan. Highly recommended.
Rock Climbing If you hear the call of the crags, Casper is your answer. Experienced rock climbers can head out to Fremont Canyon or one of the area's other climbing feasts. If you haven't yet tried climbing or want to hone your skills, make your way down to The Peak indoor rock climbing gym. Its friendly and knowledgeable staff will get you and your whole family on belay and climbing.
White Water Park Instant adventure, just add water. At Casper's new White Water Park, you can raft the North Platte with your friends or go it alone in a kayak. Either is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day or finding adventure only moments from downtown.
